Typhoid
The full antibiotic course, properly finished — at the clinic, or at your home.
Dr. Sohel Sayyed · BAMS · Maharashtra Council of Indian Medicine Reg. No. I-101780-A
Typhoid comes from contaminated food or water. It builds slowly — the fever climbs a little higher each day rather than spiking suddenly, which is one of the ways it can be told apart from dengue. Unlike dengue, typhoid has a specific treatment. Antibiotics work well. The problem is almost never the medicine — it is that people stop taking it once they feel better, and the infection returns.
Which day are you on?
Temperature rises a little each day. Stomach discomfort and weakness build. This is when testing should happen.
With the right antibiotic, fever usually starts settling within three to five days of starting treatment.
Feeling better is not the same as being clear. Stopping early is the main reason typhoid relapses, and relapsed typhoid is harder to treat.
Untreated typhoid can perforate the intestine. This is a surgical emergency. If severe abdominal pain develops, go to hospital immediately.
[TO SUPPLY — blood collection in-house or partner lab, and report turnaround time]
Typhoid responds well to the right antibiotic. Fever usually starts settling within three to five days of starting treatment.
Dr. Sayyed can treat you at home if you prefer — including injectable antibiotics and IV fluids where needed, with follow-up until the antibiotic course is genuinely finished, not just until the fever stops.
This is the single most important thing on this page. Feeling better on day four does not mean the bacteria are gone. Stopping early is the main reason typhoid comes back, and each relapse is harder to treat because resistance develops.
| Consultation — clinic or Google Meet | ₹199 |

| Home visit | from ₹700 |
The ₹199 consultation covers examination, diagnosis, and a clear plan — including what any treatment will cost. Treatment cost depends on the illness, how severe it is, and whether you are treated at the clinic or at home. Dr. Sayyed discusses it with you after examining the patient — never before. Quoting a figure without an examination would be a guess, and a fever is not something to guess about.
Fever usually settles within three to five days of starting antibiotics, but the full course typically runs seven to fourteen days. The course must be completed even after you feel well.
Yes, in most cases — including with injectable antibiotics where needed. Dr. Sayyed treats patients at home within 6 km of Handewadi Road.
Only partly. It can read positive from an old infection or a vaccine, and negative during the first week of a genuine one. It should be interpreted alongside examination and the fever pattern, not on its own.
Soft, easily digested food — khichdi, curd, bananas, soups. Avoid spicy and oily food while the intestine is inflamed. Drink only boiled or filtered water.
Yes, if the antibiotic course is stopped early. This is the commonest cause of relapse and the reason follow-up matters as much as the prescription.
Consultation is ₹199 at the clinic or on Google Meet, and a home visit starts at ₹700. Treatment cost is discussed after Dr. Sayyed examines the patient.
